The Te Anau Tartan Festival would like to advise that the event will be taking a recess for 2018 – returning in 2019.
This difficult decision was made primarily because several key members of our team advised they were unlikely to be unavailable next Easter weekend. However, we have also given consideration to the number of other large events being held over this weekend (not least of which is 3 concerts in Dunedin by Ed Sheeran) that anecdotal evidence suggested was likely to significantly compromise not only participant and spectator attendance, but also volunteer availability.
Anyone who is currently holding a challenge trophy will be asked to return it by Easter next year so they can be catalogued and prepared for awarding again in 2019. Those affected will be contacted directly closer to the time.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the past five years and hope we can count on you again as we gear up for our comeback in 2019.
