The Te Anau Manapouri Fishing Classic is a major fishing competition in Fiordland held annually over Labour Weekend. The 2015 event has been sponsored by Stabicraft and Yamaha among others.
This Fiordland fishing competition is run over the two lakes, Te Anau and Manapouri as well as the Upper Waiau river. Teams and individuals compete for the largest fish and spot prizes based on 'mystery' catch factors. There are also some great spot prizes which come up. For full rules see the Fishing Tournament Rules.
In previous years entrants have had the chance to win a Stabicraft boat - fully fitted out and ready to go! This year there are two: the 1410 Frontier and the 1410 Fisher are up for grabs! The competition runs from 7am on the Saturday and concludes at 2pm on the Sunday with prize giving at 3pm.
Weighing in a fish is all you need to go in the draw to win the major prize boat. The Te Anau Manapouri Fishing Classic fishing tournament winner is found by knockout of weigh in tickets being drawn.
Fishing for all!
This really is a fishing competition for the whole family. With both individual and family entries, both adult and child anglers stand an equal chance of catching a fish in either Lakes Te Anau or Manapouri and the upper Waiau River. Registration begins on the Friday afternoon and is open all weekend up until Sunday morning.
