The Te Anau Rodeo is a family day out during the Christmas - New Years period.
The event usually starts at 1pm sharp. However, if entries dictate the need for Slacks, then it will start at 11am (and will be advised mid December). It is best to arrive early to get a great spot to watch the Rodeo from. There is a licenced booth (no BYO sorry), food stalls and activities on site for the children throughout the day.
Come along to watch the events including steer wrestling, barrel racing, bareback and the hugely popular bull ride.
It is held at the Te Anau Rodeo grounds on Lakefront Drive adjacent to Lake Te Anau, which is past the Te Anau Boat Harbour. Main access is drive past the Te Anau boat harbour follow the gravel road around to the rodeo grounds where there is plenty of parking available in the paddock.
