The Te Anau Tartan Festival would like to advise that the event will be taking a recess for 2018 – returning in 2019.
This difficult decision was made primarily because several key members of our team advised they were unlikely to be available next Easter weekend. However, we have also given consideration to the number of other large events being held over this weekend (not least of which is 3 concerts in Dunedin by Ed Sheeran) that anecdotal evidence suggested was likely to significantly compromise not only participant and spectator attendance, but also volunteer availability.
The 2015 Te Anau Manapouri Fishing Classic will be held at Labour Weekend. The committee has been busy securing sponsors and going over the programme of the weekend while making some exciting changes.
The decision has been made to alter the start time for entrants to go fishing. Registration opens at the earlier time of 2pm on Friday 23rd October and once registered entrants can head out fishing. Again for 2015 everyone must register before heading out fishing so they have their weigh in card ready to win the major prize of the Stabicraft boat with the Yamaha 4 stroke.
Te Anau Events has a multitude of equipment available for hire.
The last few months have been spent organising and purchasing equipment for the community to use for a small hire fee, which goes towards the upkeep of the equipment.
The event co-ordinators recognised a need in the community for an Eftpos Machine. This machine can be used at any event in the Fiordland area. It is a mobile machine meaning it can be moved around the event to where it is needed or at a venue which doesn't have a phone line.
The 2014 Santa Parade was a resounding success! The committee of Santer's Little Helpers were pleased with the amount of floats participating in the parade.
The weather played it's part with a fantastic sunny day which brought the crowds out to the Town Centre to watch the parade then to Lions Park for fun in the park. Santa was a little sneaky this year and was at the start of the parade but then caused confusion as his Little Helpers couldn't find him. He was soon found when he arrived at Lions Park in style with the help of Southern Lakes Helicopters.
The 2014 Stabicraft Yamaha Te Anau Manapouri Fishing Classic was a tremendous success despite the wind. Some boaties suffered in the exposed lake while those on Manapouri fared better. The expected rain didn't come through during Sunday and a good time was had by all.
